Rodolfo A. Cartas is a native of Cuba. The son of a prominent political family, he migrated to the United States in 1961 when he was eleven years old without either parent amongst the exodus of more than 114,000 children fleeing the devastating impact of a communist revolution. Rodolfo lived in Miami’s Little Havana community before making Southern California his home in 1965.
The execution-style murder of his father in 1976, the fourth killed during a series of murders of exiled former Cuban politicians living in Florida, sparked a life-long passion for finding answers to the untold realities behind his father’s political assassination.
Rodolfo holds a B.S. in Physics from the University of California at Santa Barbara, an M.A. from San Diego State University, and a Doctorate from the University of Southern California. He is a retired school district superintendent and has extensive political experience with diverse elements of the public. He has devoted his educational career to helping immigrant children achieve the American Dream.
Currently residing in Palm Springs, living close to his three daughters and four grandchildren, Rodolfo is fascinated by historical events that influence daily life and loves to lounge by the pool reading a favorite book. Chidhood Forgottenis Rodolfo’s first memoir.
